McDonald Mariga robbed in Italy while on duty

Kenya international midfielder McDonald Mariga appears to be a victim of yet another house burglary.

Italian website lattinaoggi.eu reports that the Kenyan star’s house in Italy was raided by thugs on Saturday, when the midfielder was turning out for his club US Latina against Verona in a Serie B match.

The site adds the intruders took away among other households, two 42 and 55 inch television sets, a play station and shoes.

In a headlined story Nasty surprise for Mariga, the site reports: “(After) Saturday night’s defeat by Verona at the Bentegodi came a nasty surprise to the 29-year-old Kenyan midfielder, he came across an unpleasant visit; thieves, during his absence, have entered the apartment to third floor in the Q4 district area and have passed an adjoining condominium balcony and once inside (the apartment) they rummaged among the rooms and in the end took away two 42 and 55 inches and then also the play stations and finally some shoes.”

It is, however, not clear whether the burglary took place at the apartment in which the player has been provided for by the club in Latina, or at his personal home where he resides together with his Senegalese partner and daughter in Parma.

DECLINED TO COMMENT
The player and his family in Nairobi declined to comment on the matter.

This unfortunate incident comes barely three months after Mariga – who is known to own a string of flashy cars – lost property worth millions of shillings during a raid at his apartment in Lavington, Nairobi.

Mariga, formerly attached to top Italian clubs Inter Milan and Parma FC, was not in the house at the time the incident took place.

The latest incident can be described as a hattrick of raids on Mariga’s family in recent times.

In November  2014, Mariga’s younger sibling, Victor Wanyama, who plays for Tottenham Hotspur in the English Premier League, had his home in England raided and property worth millions of shillings stolen alongside his Range Rover SUV.
