Citizen Television’s senior political reporter Stephen Letoo took to social media on October 19, 2022, to unveil his newly prepared rate card for doing business with brands and various businesses.

In the rate card seen by Nairobi News, Letoo says he will charge Sh 50,000 for club appearances, Sh 150,000 for endorsements, Sh 100,000 for voice-over services, and Sh 2 million to be a product or service brand ambassador.

He posted his rate card on Instagram where he boasts 34,700 followers and thousands more on Facebook.

“Another day to remind you that if you ever want to advertise with us, here’s our rate card. Contact us to give your brand the much-needed visibility,” said Letoo in a post.

Additionally, on Instagram, he will now charge Sh 20,000 for a feed post, Sh 10,000 for a story, and Sh 50,000 to go live on Instagram. On Facebook, he will charge Sh 30,000 for a post, Sh 50,000 for a video post, Sh 15,000 for a story and Sh 50,000 to go live on Facebook.

He will also charge Sh 15,000 per Twitter post.

A popular journalist and entertaining narrator, the Citizen TV reporter courted popularity when President William Ruto sought him at a press briefing on September 5, 2022, following the confirmation of his electoral victory at the Supreme Court of Kenya.

Letoo and a fellow colleague, Chemutai Goin, were specifically singled out by Ruto amid reports their employer was providing more coverage to President Ruto’s main rival, Raila Odinga.

“Congratulations and thank you for mentioning my name. It has increased my following. I did a good job during the campaign period. I believe he mentioned me because he recognized my efforts. I am one of the journalists who should be lauded,” Letoo responded to President Ruto.

Letoo had been tasked with covering Raila Odinga’s campaigns across the country and always reported in a dramatic fashion from the scenes of Azimio La Umoja-One Kenya Alliance campaigns.

Citizen TV had previously expressed fears its journalists assigned to Odinga’s campaign team would be sidelined or intimidated. President Ruto has allayed those fears.

Following this ‘special’ call out, Letoo’s popularity increased, his social media followers increased and he became much more active on social media- especially with his advocating for polygamy.

He also took this newly found popularity in stride when he announced that he was considering vying for the Kilgoris Member of Parliament seat in the 2027 General Election.
