Mercy Masika’s eight-year drought finally over
Gospel music sensation Mercy Masika’s has finally returned to the glory she last had eight years ago.
Masika’s mega hit Mwema won the Skiza Ring Back Tune of the Year at Wednesday;s Groove Awards.
Her hit Nikupendeze topped the Song of the Year category and, to crown it all, she was named Female Artiste of the Year.
This was the second time she featured prominently in the awards in a music career that started when she was 11 years.
Masika hit song Amukomete won her the first award in 2008. On Thursday, she shared a photo (above) on Instagram of her 2008 moment when she last won a Groove Award.
Since her win in 2008, Masika has done other songs among them Milele and Emmanuel, but her biggest hit was Mwema in 2014. The song was written for her by colleague Mr Vee.
