Meru man kills brother over Sh 15,000

Police are looking for a man who is suspected to have killed his brother over a phone on Tuesday night.

Thirty-five year old Dicken Kimathi was slashed to death after he snatched his brother’s phone that was loaded with Sh15,000 in the M-Pesa account.

The incident occurred at Mukweone village in Meru County.

Nduguto assistant chief Peter Kinyua told Nairobi News on phone that the deceased snatched his brother’s mobile phone and disappeared with it.

He was, however, attacked with a panga when he returned. He died on the spot.

SUSPECTED KILLER

“The suspected killer came to me at about 8 p.m. and complained that his brother, Kimathi had taken his phone which had Sh15,000 in the M-Pesa account. I told him that I would arrest him the following day and he left,” he said.

The suspect found his brother home when he returned and a fight ensued. It was then that he hacked the deceased with a machete (panga) on the neck.

“The deceased was a notorious for his wrong doings in the entire sub-location. I have solved a lot of cases concerning him. He was always armed with a panga which he used to threaten people with whenever he was on the wrong side,” he said.

Police retrieved the deceased body to Meru Level Five Hospital mortuary.

The assistant chief said a manhunt has been launched for the arrest of the assailant who is on the run.
