Meta rolls out two monetization tools In Kenya
Meta has unveiled two new monetization features for eligible content creators in Kenya: In-Stream Ads on Facebook and Ads on Facebook Reels.
These tools will allow creators to earn money by producing original videos and fostering online communities.
Moon Baz, Global Partnerships Lead for Africa, the Middle East, and Turkey (AMET) at Meta, shared her excitement about the launch:
“Every day, we’re inspired by the incredible African creators who use Facebook to tell their stories, connect with others, and bring people together. This expansion will empower eligible creators in the vibrant creative industry in Kenya to earn money while setting the bar high for creativity across the world and making Meta’s family of apps the one-stop shop for all creators.:
How the New Features Work
In-Stream Ads: These ads can appear before, during, or after on-demand videos, including both pre-recorded content and recordings of previous live streams.
The types of In-Stream Ads available include:
- Pre-roll Ads: Play before a video starts.
- Mid-roll Ads: Play during the video.
- Image Ads: Static image ads that display beneath the content.
- Post-roll Ads: Appear at the end of the video.
Ads on Facebook Reels: These ads are seamlessly integrated into original Reels, enabling creators to earn money based on the performance of their content while entertaining their audience.
Starting today, August 6, eligible creators in Kenya can begin monetizing their video and reel content.
The new features support over 30 languages globally, including Swahili. To utilize these monetization tools, creators must comply with Facebook’s Partner Monetization Policies and Content Monetization Policies.
Additionally, they must be at least 18 years old. For In-Stream Ads, creators must also meet specific eligibility criteria, such as having a minimum of 5,000 followers.
Content creator Eddie Butita celebrated the news by sharing on his Instagram:
“Dear Creators it is time to unlock a new revenue stream. We delivered. Meta Monetization is finally in Kenya.”
