Miguna responds to Ida Odinga’s betrayal claims

By Wangu Kanuri December 14th, 2022 2 min read

Embattled lawyer Miguna Miguna has slammed Ida Odinga following her betrayal claims.

Mrs Odinga shared about schemes by some politicians from Nyanza region to fight her family.

She accused the politicians of being involved in campaigns to push for Mr Odinga to retire from politics after he failed in his fifth attempt to clinch the presidency in the August 9 elections.

However, Miguna in a tweet claimed that Mrs Odinga knows too well that Raila does not have any other chance to share, “She invested in Jodong Aich instead of the masses who had the power to make her First Lady!”

Jodong Aich is a Luo phrase that means “people who look out for their own interests as long as they are satisfied that is all that matters.”

Speaking on Sunday during a thanksgiving prayer service organised in Radiro village, Homa Bay County, Mrs Odinga who avoided mentioning names appeared to be referring to campaigns by former allies of the Azimio leader.

The politicians have formed a caucus and are spearheading campaigns for the region to work closely with the Kenya Kwanza administration to ensure residents benefit from development projects from the government.

“The same politicians would wake up and come to my home for breakfast, lunch and supper and spend the whole day at my office. They are now insulting members of my family, forgetting they used to frequent my home, pretending to be close to the family,” she said.

Adding that those painting her family negatively on social media in the hope of being rewarded by President William Ruto were wasting their time.

However, critics from Nyanza accused the opposition chief of wasting his best chance of clinching the presidency.

They blamed him for failing to put in place proper structures during the campaigns.

Evidently, the NTV expose on why Raila lost revealed a lot of disintegration and lack of organization amongst Azimio la Umoja that would enable them to win the August 9th elections.

Additionally, they lamented the over-reliance on the government led by former President Uhuru Kenyatta while also accusing Raila of trusting only a few leaders.
