Hold your breath! Miguna to publish new book in exile

By DAVID KWALIMWA November 19th, 2018 2 min read

Hold your collective breathes good people, for Miguna Miguna has announced he is just about to publish yet another book.

The controversial lawyer and politician, who is currently exiled in Canada, made this announcement to his 450,000 Twitter followers on Sunday giving December 20, 2018 as the date of the book’s publication.

Miguna even posted the cover page of the 450-page book which will be titled, Treason: The case against Tyrants and Renegades.

The book’s cover page bears a photo of Nasa leader Raila Odinga – flanked by Miguna – taking his ‘oath office’ with a Bible held high during his infamous mock swearing in as the ‘People’s President’ on January 30 at Nairobi’s Uhuru Park.

If Miguna indeed publishes the book, Kenyans should expect some very juicy revelations on the events of the August and October 2017 elections and the aftermath, atleast from the fiery lawyer’s perspective.

Miguna, who has a longstanding love-hate relationship with Mr Odinga, is on record for confessing during a past interview on NTV that he voted for President Uhuru Kenyatta during the August 8, 2017 elections, only to later close ranks with Mr Odinga, who accused IEBC of stealing his victory.

He would later lead a militant wing of the opposition, dubbed the National Resistance Movement (NRM), in the mock swearing in of Mr Odinga.

It was however Miguna who bore the brunt of the government’s swift and ruthless backlash on key opposition figures who took part in the outlawed oath-taking exercise.

In a very quick succession, Miguna was arrested, held incommunicado for days on end, arraigned and charged in court before being twice deported to Canada, where he is a citizen.

This is the third time Miguna is penning a book detailing his experiences on the Kenyan political scene.

His other critically acclaimed titles are Peeling Back the Mask: A Quest for Justice in Kenya and Kidneys for the King.

Both books caused political furore owing to the interesting revelations the author made against high profile politicians, including Mr Odinga.
