Mike Sonko hints at quitting alcohol

Mike Sonko has hinted at his intent to quit the bottle.

The controversial politician is not only well known as a party animal but also owns a number of entertainment spots in the country including the Volume VIP club in Mombasa.

Formerly Nairobi governor, Sonko on Sunday shared a photo of himself taking tea alongside Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and other politicians.

He then suggested he would have in the past opted for alcohol at a similar gathering.

“Things have changed. God is great,” wrote the flamboyant politician.

“In the past, I would land in a place like this and take some wine and beer, Nowadays I drink tea throughout.”

During his stint as governor, Sonko once accused unnamed officials at State House during former president Uhuru Kenyatta’s regime of serving him with alcohol obsentisbly to tamper with his judgment moments before he signed off key functions of the county government to the Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS).

His fallout with the former president was connected with the move with the Members of County Assembly (MCA) and Senator to impeach him. He was also arrested and charged with corruption and terrorism related acts.

The Supreme court recently barred him from contesting for any political seat.
