By Winnie Mabel November 19th, 2022 2 min read

Janneta Nyamu, the adoptive daughter of former Nairobi governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko on November 18, 2022, graduated from Daystar University and celebrated her ‘new’ parents for stepping in and taking care of her.

“The steps of a [good and righteous] man are directed and established by the Lord, and He delights in his way [and blesses his path].” Psalms 37:23. Attending high school, leave alone university, would have remained a farfetched dream if my now parents had refused to be used by the Lord; because I have been empowered through them to be the lady I am today.”

Today I am overjoyed to be graduating from one of the best Christian universities in East Africa, not for the first but second time. God, in His mercies and love, sent angels in human form my way, and my life changed for the better,” began Ms. Nyamu.

She thanked God for gifting her with Mike Sonko for a father and spoke of his importance in her life that can not be expressed in words.

“Thank you for everything. Dad, you have been nothing short of amazing, the anchor upon which we stand. I am always inspired by how you make all the sacrifices with a smile.

Thank you for being our father, and a great one at that. Without you, I wouldn’t be where I am today,” Ms. Nyamu told Mike Sonko.

Additionally, she praised Sonko’s wife, Primrose Mbuvi, for being her pillar and loving her overwhelmingly.

“Primrose Mbuvi, what a mother. What a mighty woman of valor (you are) that I am so privileged to call (you) mother. You have been a pillar for me, mama. You have ensured that no mountain is too high or river too wide (for me).

I am in awe and overwhelmed by how much you love and care for us. Every day around you is a learning moment. I have learned so much wisdom by sitting at your feet and listening attentively.

Thank you for being my war room partner, my number one motivator, and the person that constantly encourages me to put my best foot forward,” added Ms Nyamu.

She further praised her mother and father for paving the way for her and giving her a voice and wings to soar to great heights.

“I love you, I honor you, and I am so privileged to be your daughter. I might never repay you for all your labors, but I am certain that someday, someone’s life will be transformed because you transformed mine.

May you live in houses you didn’t build that will be richly stocked with goods you did not produce.

May you draw water from cisterns you did not dig, and may you eat from vineyards and olive trees you did not plant. In Jesus’ name,” concluded Ms. Nyamu.

Ms. Nyamu received congratulatory remarks from Sonko’s biological daughter, Sandra, and a host of friends.
