Model clobbered by Mugabe’s wife speaks out – PHOTOS

South African model Gabriella Engels who was assaulted by Zimbabwean First Lady Grace Mugabe has narrated her ordeal.

Ms Engels told Daily Mail that she had no idea who Grace was as she had just been introduced to her sons by a mutual friend.

“She beat me so badly, with all her power and might, I honestly thought it was the end of me. She beat me with such force and energy that I never thought she was going to stop,” she said.

“Her security guards and bodyguards just stood and watched that happen, I was pleading with her for mercy, I was crying out for help at the top of my voice.”

NEVER GET JUSTICE

The 20-year-old is now scared that she may never get justice as Mrs Mugabe failed to appear in court Tuesday and her husband is on his way to South Africa for the 37th summit of the Southern African Development Community (SADC).

“I am scared she will never be held to account for what she did to me,” Ms Engels said.

Reports on Tueday night had indicated that Mrs Mugabe had flown back to Harare but on Wednesday morning, South African officials denied the reports.

A senior Zimbabwean government official told Zimbabwean press, “Yes, she is back in the country. We don’t know where this issue of assault charges is coming from.”

South African Police spokesperson Brigadier Vishnu Naidoo told Times Live that police had been “negotiating” with the legal representatives of the suspect in the assault case. He had declined to name the suspect.

He said no arrests had been made but “we will see as the morning and the day unfolds. We are focused on finalising the investigation”
