Moha ‘Jicho Pevu’ quits ODM, blames Joho for his woes


Popular investigative journalist Mohammed Ali, aka Jicho Pevu, has quit the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party.

The youthful Ali has announced that he will vie for the Nyali Parliamentary seat as an independent candidate in the August general elections.

In a lengthy Facebook post, Ali explained that the decision to decamp from ODM was forced upon him after he was rigged out in the party’s primaries by Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho last month.

“Unfortunately, powerful and destructive elements within ODM party are keen on building a legacy in Mombasa with its foundations in nepotism, personal and family benefits.”

Ali however maintained that his support for ODM leader and Nasa presidential candidate Raila Odinga.

“I want to make it clear that even as I tender my resignation from the ODM party to run as an Independent Candidate, I still firmly believe that Raila Odinga is the man who can change Kenya.” added Ali.

Ali’s decision now sets him up for a rematch against Said “Saidio” Ali, Joho’s cousin, in the August elections.

Saidio controversially beat Moha in the ODM primaries.
