Money or love? Governor marries model 27 years younger
For a 63 year-old man to conquer the heart of a 36 year-old model is either a fairy tale or a case of money buying love.
In Nigeria, Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole, popularly known as Osho Baba, married a Cape Verdean model turned air hostess, Iara Fortes over the weekend.
The couple exchanged vows with Fortes in front of family, friends and fellow politicians including Nigeria’s President-elect Muhammadu Buhari and Africa’s richest man Aliko Dangote, among others, at Osho’s Iyamho residence.
They were later led by President Buhari, to the wedding reception held at the People’s White Hall in the governor’s country home.
Governor Osho lost his first wife Clara in December 2010 after a long fight with cancer and has been rumoured to have been dating young college girls shortly after his wife’s death.
He is on his second term as the Edo State Governor after winning with a landslide victory during the 2012 gubernatorial elections.
AGE DIFFERENCE
The governor and his new wife attended a thanksgiving mass a day after their wedding where he talked about the 27 age difference between him and his wife that has been the topic of discussion since they wedded.
“She is very humble, she appreciates the nature of my job and life, that I return home late, sometimes at 3a.m. She understands my weaknesses; she is more or less the mother of the house, the one that has accepted to be the mother of my children,” he said.
Governor Osho added that his wife is way mature beyond her age and that his children have accepted her as their mother even though she is not old enough.
Very little was known about the new Edo State first lady with some sections of Nigerian media having reported that she is Ethiopian others saying she is Philippine.
“I have seen a lot of publications, some saying that she is Philippine, Dutch and several others, but she is from Cape Verde. And that is part of West Africa. And I hope that will rest the debate of where she is from,” Governor Osho said at the thanksgiving event.
