Monster city askari caught on tape assaulting woman suspended – Video

There seems to be no stopping the uncouth behavior of Nairobi City askaris. Yet another undated video has surfaced online showing a city askari assaulting a businesswoman.

In the clip, which has been circulating on social media, the City Inspectorate officer is seen storming into what looks like a salon and then rips off a business permit hanged on the wall.

When the woman tries to stop him, he grabs her right hand and drags her on the floor towards the door. He continues to drag on the pavement outside the salon.

The Nairobi City County’s Director of Public Communications, Beryl Awuor Okundi on Wednesday commented on the video clip by acknowledging that the said officer has since been suspended.

“This incident was reported to NCCG and the officer has since been suspended… NCCG does not condone violence. We believe that Traders and Nairobi residents should be treated courteously and in a humane manner,” she wrote on the comment section of the video clip.

The video began circulating a day after the Nairobi City County Government suspended five city askaris after their criminal conduct was exposed in an investigative TV series.

According to a statement sent to newsrooms on Tuesday evening, Nairobi governor Dr Evans Kidero suspended the five after they were exposed on KTN’s Jicho Pevu engaging in criminal acts including extortion, brutally and murder.
