Moral policeman Ezekiel Mutua bans ‘Takataka’ song

Kenya Film Classification Board has banned ‘Takataka‘ song from being played on air with immediate effect.

The Board on Tuesday said the song by Alvin, alias Alvindo, is primitive and abusive to “our sensibilities as a people and cannot be condoned.”

“KFCB bans the song due to its obscene and degrading lyrics that advocate for violence against women by equating them to trash,” said KFCB chief executive Ezekiel Mutua.

Mr Mutua said the song was never submitted to the board for classification before release.

The song is about the ire of a jilted lover who shreds his ex-girlfriend apart. It was first released as a snippet in January before the singer returned to the studio to put the final touches.

In the ban, KFCB  warned that the song should not be performed live or aired anywhere in the country

Local DJ’s have also been prohibited from playing it. The ban also extends to social media.

The singer has also been given two weeks to appear before the board failure to which legal action will be taken against him.

The artiste will also risk revoking his membership in any of the three Content Management Organizations (CMOs) including the Music Copyright Society of Kenya, Kenya Association of Music producers and Performing Rights Society of Kenya.
