Most wanted man accused of killing popular musician hiding in Kenya
A Special Investigation Team (SIT) that was set up in India to investigate the broad-daylight murder of singer Sidhu Moosewala now says that the main suspect is hiding in Kenya.
In a report issued by the SIT Mr Anmol Bishnoi fled India using a fake passport that was issued by the Regional Passport Office in Delhi and then boarded a plane to Kenya days before Moosewala was murdered.
Already, the police on Wednesday, August 31, 2022, said that they had traced his co-accused Mr Sachin Thapan and he was being detained in Azerbaijan after the Indian Government requested that he is arrested.
“The Punjab police, with the help of central agencies and government of India, traced accused Sachin Thapan to Dubai and then to Azerbaijan where he has been detained,” the statement issued by Punjab police boss Gaurav Yadav read in part.
Suspect fled to Kenya
Mr Yadav said that both suspects managed to flee from India after planning the murder of the musician who was killed on May 29.
According to the investigating team, Mr Bishnoi’s brother identified as Lawrence Bishnoi was the mastermind behind the brutal murder of the singer and he fled before it took place to avoid being noticed.
They said that it is Lawrence who allegedly obtained the fake passports for Mr Bishnoi and Mr Thapan.
Plans to extradite underway
Currently, the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) and the Mansa Police are preparing documents to extradite Mr Thapan to India to answer the charges.
Mr Bishnoi is allegedly facing 20 criminal cases which are pending against him. He usually brags about being a gang leader and never fears controversy.
In October 2021, he was released on bail from Jodhpur jail and has never been arrested ever since despite an order issued that he be nabbed.
The Indian police also said that Mr Thapan is wanted in connection to 12 criminal cases.
