Mubaba? Actress Lupita Nyong’o unveils her man on Christmas eve
Lupita Nyong’o is finally in love.
The Kenyan-American actress unveiled her man, and in style, in one of the most stylish yet uncomplicated manners unseen among celebrities.
Obviously, they had to first go Instagram official where she uploaded a video of them doing outfit changes in the click challenge where each frame had them change outfits from pajama robes to swimming outfits, black tie, Mexican cultural and dance-themed outfits.
“We just click! #thiismylove #nuffsaid,” Lupita captioned the video posted on December 23, 2022, as they danced to The King’s Affirmation song.
And you will never guess who he is! Are you ready for this? Trust Lupita to date a big name to match her stature. She is dating Selema Masekela, the son of the late South African music legend and trumpeter, Hugh Masekela. That technically makes Selema the son of “music royalty”- African musicians whose legacy lives on posthumously across generations.
So who is Selema Masekela in his own right?
He is an American television host, sports commentator, actor, and singer- just like his dad.
He is a 51-year-old half-Haitian, half-South African man born in Los Angeles, California in the United States of America. He’s worked for ESPN, E! and HBO as an on-screen personality before he starred in his own reality show alongside his father before his death.
The news of their relationship just hours before Christmas was met with global jubilation as sampled below by Nairobi News.

Others expressed frustration that it wasn’t them who were dating Lupita as they revealed that they had camped on her page and Selema’s to find out the true nature of their relationship despite Lupita intimating that he was her lover.
Lupita Nyongo is one of the children of Kenya’s Kisumu Governor Anyang’ Nyongo and is celebrated both in Kenya and America for her movie achievements- especially in the Wakanda franchise which has some of its back story attributed to Kenya as well.
