Museveni, Magufuli, Kagame congratulate Uhuru


East African Heads of State were among the first to congratulate President Uhuru Kenyatta following his re-election.

President Kenyatta was on Friday night crowned winner of the country’s General election, after the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission announced he’d garnered 54 percent of the total votes cast.

Moments after, Uganda President Yoweri Museveni alongside Tanzania’s John Pombe Magufuli and Rwanda’s Paul Kagame sent their congratulatory messages which were also shared on Twitter.

In his lengthy message president Museveni said: “Your re-election is clear testimony of the trust you have earned from the people of Kenya and appreciation of efforts you have made towards development of your country and of the region in the last five years.”

Kagame, who was overwhelmingly re-elected  to serve a third term in office last week, also congratulated President Kenyatta for what he termed as a “successful” election.
