Museveni’s son congratulates Ruto

Uganda President Yoweri Museveni’s son Muhoozi Kainerugaba is the latest in a string of personalities from the east african country to celebrate the election of President-elect William Ruto.
Kainerugaba, a senior official in the Ugandan army, lauded Ruto following his win in the August 9, 2022 polls and expressed admiration for his yellow tie.
He wrote on Twitter: “President-Elect Ruto. Congratulations on winning the elections. Wishing you the best in your term as President. Also, I love the yellow tie.”
Yellow is the dominant colour of Ruto’s UDA party and incidentally also the theme colour of Museveni’s National Resistance Movement (NRM) party.
NRM has ruled Uganda since Museveni ascended to power in 1986.
The party colors which are primarily yellow, green, red, blue and white are similar to UDA’s green, white and yellow which is the predominant color.
Kainerugaba is one of the most influential people in the country and has increasingly been considered as a possible successor to his father who has ruled Uganda for close to four decades.
Besides the President’s son, Museveni, his vice-president Jessica Alupo, Prime Minister Robinah Nabanjja and Parliament Speaker Anita Among have all congratulated Ruto, who defeated Raila Odinga to win the election.
