Museveni’s son finally apologizes to Ruto for controversial tweets


Uganda President Yoweri Museveni’s son Muhoozi Kainerugaba has finally apologized to President William Ruto, a week after he shared controversial tweets about Kenya.

In the apopolgy, Muhoozi, Museveni’s first born son, clarified he doesn’t have a ‘problem’ with President Ruto whom he’s described as ‘Afande’.

Last week, Muhoozi controversially suggested his ‘big brother’, retired president Uhuru Kenyatta, had disappointed him for not contesting for a third term saying he would have won easily.

He also suggested Mr Kenyatta should have changed the constitution to contest for a third term.

President Kenyatta was barred from contesting for a third term by the Kenyan constitution and handed over power to President Ruto on September 13th 2022.

 

Muhoozi, a senior official in the Ugandan army further suggested he needed only two weeks to topple President Ruto’s government.

 

His tweets would cause an uproar online, with top government officials from both Kenya and Uganda meeting to discuss the messaging..

President Museveni apologised to Kenyans and East Africans for the tweets a day later, and dropped Muhoozi as Command of Land Forces even though he promoted him to General, the highest rank in the army.
