Muthama’s wife launches bid for seat on Jubilee ticket

The wife of Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama, a Nasa stalwart, on Friday launched her bid for the Woman Representative position on a Jubilee ticket.

Mrs Agnes Muthama addressed her first rally at Kikambuani in Kangundo Constituency since she was cleared to vie for the seat.

Mrs Muthama said she had been touched by the suffering of the masses and was ready to dedicate the rest of her life in serving the people of Machakos.

“I want to empower poor women, youth and the disabled,” said Mrs Muthama. “Some cannot even start families because of poverty.”

Mrs Muthama added that she chose President Uhuru Kenyatta’s party “because the government has greatly improved education and infrastructure in Machakos”.

The candidate’s husband is a key pillar in the Raila Odinga-led opposition coalition Nasa, Jubilee’s main rival.
