Mutua blasts Wavinya for snubbing debates

Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has blasted his main opponent in the forthcoming general election  Wavinya Ndeti for what he has termed as “snubbing” debates.

In a statement to the public via his social media pages, Dr Mutua now claims Ndeti is “running away from public scrutiny” ahead of a face-off between the two senior politicians in the August 8 polls.

The Governor also described Ndeti’s actions as “unfortunate.”

Dr Mutua alleged that Ndeti had for the third successive occasion declined to participate in a debate that is to be aired on national TV on Wednesday evening.

Said Mutua: “The seat of the Governor requires someone who is willing to be interrogated, put on the spot and who has nothing to hide. Kenya needs transparent leaders who have a clear development plan for wananchi, not empty rhetoric, baseless accusations and innuendos.”

Ms Ndeti’s absence comes days after seven of the eight presidential running mates in the forthcoming elections, including incumbent William Ruto and his closest challenger Kalonzo Musyoka, snubbed a national debate organised by the mainstream media.
