Mutua rekindles political beef with Kalonzo
Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has stepped up his rivalry with Kalonzo Musyoka with a hard-hitting statement that is critical of the latter’s recent political dealings.
Mutua specifically criticized the One Kenya Alliance (OKA) political outfit, which is led by Kalonzo, for requesting the Registrar of Political parties, in writing, to halt the registration of Azimio-OKA coalition party.
Mutua further warned Kalonzo the Azimio coalition was about inclusion and not exclusion in a bid to unite the country and accelerate economic development.
“I’m surprised OKA is talking about inclusivity on one hand but advocating for exclusion of over 20 political parties who signed up to form the coalition,” said Mutua.
Mutua, the Maendeleo Chap Chap party leader further urged the OKA alliance to be accommodative to other political parties that wish to join Azimio coalition
“I urge OKA and all our partners in Azimio to be accommodative to any other political outfit that wants to work with us. We must not lose sight that we are looking for victory and politics is about numbers.”
His comments come a day after OKA threatened to stop Azimio registration process until certain contentious issues, including the running mate position, are ironed out.
“Our objection is premised on fact that three (3) issues have not been agreed upon and are to be deliberated and agreed upon before the Agreement is fully registered,” said OKA in the letter.
Mutua and Kalonzo have had several run-ins with analysts suggesting their beef is linked to the battle for supremacy in the Ukambani region.
