I left my house some minutes to 10am and walked towards the SOS stage in Buruburu to pick a matatu to town. I stood at the bus stop for some time before a route 23 matatu arrived.

It is a vehicle I know very well. It is the kind that plays loud music. I decided against boarding a Compliant MOA bus which was behind because I thought it would take long to get to town.

What I did not know was that the person I would sit next to was a thug. He looked very decent. Nothing about him aroused suspicion.

It was only later on that I realised that I was in the company of six men, all thugs. One sat at the passenger
