An impeachment motion seeking to oust Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero has been approved by the Speaker of the Nairobi County Assembly Alex ole Magelo.

The impeachment motion tabled by Viwandani MCA Samuel Nyangwara will be tabled at the assembly on Thursday afternoon.

This comes after the motion garnered 52 signatures of the required a third of the members of the assembly.

“I have received the above stated motion from Hon Samuel Nyangwara pursuant to Article 181 of the constitution and Section 33 of the county government act,” read the memo from the clerk’s chamber.

GROUNDS FOR IMPEACHMENT

Mr Nyangwara said the motion will then be committed to the house committee which will allocate time for debate within seven days.

The grounds for Dr Kidero’s impeachment include lack of leadership, incompetence and indecisive.

According to the Viwandani MCA, the impeachment motion is mainly because Kidero has continuously violated the Constitution.

The MCA also claims that the governor has also failed to implement the Ward Development Fund and has failed to deposit money on it.

This is the second impeachment motion on Dr Kidero after the first one was stopped through a court ruling.
