Nairobi County to take over operations of Mama Margaret Hospital


Nairobi governor Johnson Sakaja has said the county government will soon take over the operations of Mama Margaret Kenyatta Hospital, in Korogocho slums, from the national government.

Speaking after being handed a report from a health task force led by Dr. Githinji Gitahi, Sakaja said his government would appoint officials who will review the hospital’s operations.

“The county government will take over Mama Margaret Kenyatta Hospital and even appoint officials to oversee all Level 4 hospitals,” Sakaja said.

The governor also revealed that his government would appoint chief executive officers in all the level 4 hospitals in the county.

Mama Margaret Kenyatta Hospital was initially known as the Mathare-Korogocho Level 5 is located in the City of Nairobi’s populous Embakasi Constituency.
