Nairobi has the second worst traffic in the world – survey


Nairobi’s traffic has been ranked as the second worst in the world, only better than a city in the most populous nation, India.

In a recent ranking by Numbeo, Nairobians spend an average of 62.44 minutes in traffic.

The city with the worst traffic is Kolkata (India) where residents spend 68.86 minutes on the road.

Mumbai (India) is third at 60.11 minutes spent in traffic.

The other cities with worst traffic are Jarkata (Indonesia), Manila (Philippines) and Mexico City (Mexico).

Others ranked among the top ten in the world are Tehran (Iran), followed by Rio De Janeiro (Brazil), Istanbul (Turkey) and Delhi (India).

Nairobi leads the top five cities with worst traffic in Africa in a list dominated by cities in South Africa.

Cairo in Egypt is second worst in Africa, followed by Pretoria, Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban.

The annual ranking involves checking on the average time spent in traffic across the cities.
