Nairobi MCAs push for transfer of cashiers at City Hall

Nairobi county representatives are demanding the transfer of revenue collection employees who have stayed on one station for more than three years.

This comes at a time when the Governor Evans Kidero has called upon the representatives help end cartels at City Hall.

A notice of motion presented by MCA Mugumoini ward Alex Otieno is seeking the executive to remove officials who have stayed in revenue collection points for long.

“Continued revenue leakage at various collection points is mostly through theft or inaction by the County employees charged with overseeing collections at this points,” states the motion.

Mr Otieno proposed that employees at revenue collection points should work on rotational basis.

He added that City Hall has a potential to collect over Sh 4 billion monthly but is hampered by man-made leakages in the collection points.

“Nairobi County has an e-payment system but it is yet to make significant impact due to man-made leakages especially by the County employees,”said Mr Otieno.
