Nairobi mechanic in trouble for ‘touching’ waitress’ boobs and butts in public

A man who works as a mechanic in Nairobi is facing charges of mechanic is facing charges of committing an indecent act after he allegedly groped a waitress’ breasts and buttocks.

Mr Boniface Oyoo Mireri was on Friday charged with the offence along Baricho Road in Industrial Area, Nairobi on February 8, 2023 contrary to section 11 (1) of the sexual offences Act of 2006.

Mr Mireri has also been charged with use of obscene language in a manner likely to cause a breach of peace contrary to section 95 (1) of the penal code. The accused is alleged to have made the remarks in reference to the complainant’s breasts and behind .

On the said date, the complainant, who is a waitress at a restaurant located along Lusaka road, had delivered food to customers at a company along Baricho Road. It is on her way back to the restaurant that she was accosted by the accused person and other mechanics.

The accused reportedly told the complainant that she should reduce the size of her breasts and behind but the latter told him to mind his business.

It is then that the accused grabbed her and committed the indecent act.

The complainant raised an alarm and was rescued by another woman. Thereafter she reported the matter and recorded a statement at Industrial Area Police Station. Mr Mireri was traced and arrested in the same area.

The accused denied the charges before Principal Magistrate Eric Mutunga of Makadara Law Courts. Through his lawyer, he claimed that there were incitements that led to the incident being reported to the police. He also said he is in the process of settling the matter with the complainant out of court.

The accused person was released on a surety bond of Sh150, 000. The case will be mentioned on March 22, 2023 before hearing starts on June 21, 2023.
