City mum needs facial surgery after thugs attacked her and stole Sh30
A woman who was left for dead after being attacked by a gang in Westlands last Saturday is appealing for help.
Lilian Aoko Opiyo was attacked on Saturday, August 13, on her way home from a choir practice at ACK Church in Westlands.
According to her daughter Clarise Atieno, the thugs stole her mum’s cellphone and her handbag which had only Sh30.
Miss Opiyo sustained deep facial cuts during the incident and now needs specialised surgical reconstruction.
She is currently admitted at MP Shah Hospital and her bill has reached sh500,000. Her family say they cannot offset the bill.
Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko posted the graphic picture of Lilian’s deformed face on his Facebook page and asked anyone with any information on the gang to contact him. He also announced a sh50,000 reward for anyone with credible leads.
“The culprits are known. I’m offering a reward of sh50,000 to anyone who will give information leading to the arrest of the suspect. Send details to 0722886600 and I will personally call for follow up,” Mr Sonko wrote.
He donated Sh150,000 to the family and urged well-wishers to come to the family’s aid.
Well-wishers can send donations to paybill number 824600, account number 101608140000. Once sent, forward the message to 0722886600 for accounting purposes.
The case has been reported at the Spring Valley police station under OB. NO. 9/16/08/2016.
