Nairobi National Park lions to wear tracking collars

Lions at the Nairobi National Park will be wearing satellite tracking collars for the next two years as researchers try to map their movements in a bid to reduce human interaction.

The project is expected to show how human and livestock around the park have affected the cats’ movements.

The lion project will also sensitise those living around the park on how to prevent livestock predation.

In June 2012, six lions that had strayed from the park were killed by angry villagers in Kitengela after they killed eight cows and 28 sheep
