‘Nairobi News’ scoops African Digital Media Award
Nairobi News, a product of the Nation Media Group (NMG), has won the Best in Lifestyle, Sports, Entertainment Website or Mobile Service award in the 2018 African Digital Media Awards.
To scoop the top honours, Nairobi News beat the Daily Nation sports section, which is also an NMG product.
The award ceremony was held on Friday night at Capital on the Park Hotel in Sandton, Johannesburg in South Africa.
FOUR NOMINATIONS
NMG had landed four nominations in the prestigious annual awards, which are organised by the news publishers WAN-IFRA and the World Association of Newspapers.
SHORTLISTED NOMINEES
Other NMG nominees were Lit 360 which had been shortlisted for the Best in Social Media Engagement category and The Airtel Case Study which was shortlisted for the Best Digital Marketing Campaign.
A total of six different countries made the shortlist for the nominees which was released on Monday evening.
There were a total of three categories for 2018 which are Best Reader Revenue Initiative, Best Branded Content Project and Best Digital News Startup.
