Nairobi woman sues MP for Sh100,000 child care

Ainamoi MP Benjamin Lagat has been taken to court by a woman claiming that he has neglected his parental responsibility.

Ms Martha Kengere wants the Children’s Court to compel the lawmaker to pay Sh110,000 a month for the welfare of the child, aged four years.

In the application filed on her behalf by lawyer Peter Tanui, she said that sometime in 2010, Mr Lagat promised marriage and she got pregnant.

She said the MP has refused to take responsibility.

The court on Tuesday directed Mr Lagat to respond in the next 15 days.

The case will be mentioned on November 26.
