Nairobi women caught on camera stealing from Americans

Two women have been caught on camera in the latest incident of broad daylight theft at a café in the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.

CCTV footage of the incident has been circulated widely via social media in an attempt to help recover the stolen filming equipment and ensure the female thieves are located and arrested.

The equipment was stolen from two Americans who were shooting a production locally and among the stolen items is a 2x Nikon D3 camera, Nikkor 14-24 , 24-70 and 70-200 lenses along with a Sigma 50 lens.

Another Sony NEX-5N camera and a 2.5″ WD Elements 2GB grey hard drive with a lot of wedding photos and a 2.5″ Seagate 2GB grey hard drive with 2 weddings photos and video by Phantom drone along with a Sandisk CF memory 3×16 and 32 GB with photos from another wedding were also stolen.

In a message circulated on Facebook with the CCTV footage the owners requested that members of the public help them recover the photos and videos as they are most important bearing wonderful wedding memories of couples.

In the CCTV footage, the two can be seen entering the café and siting strategically at a table next to one occupied by two whites.

The women seem to be working with one male companion who comes in seconds after them but moves on to sit further away.

VICTIMS DISTRACTED

After one of the women wakes up and moves to the exit as if making a call, the male accomplice then comes to the table where the women are then moments later leaves the table.

He walks towards the entrance and poses as if making a call then one of the women can be seen retrieving a phone from her bag then going on to receive a call from it.

As the woman talks on phone the other woman grabs a bag pack placed near the foreigner’s table as the two seem distracted and not concentrating on the safety of their bag.

She then passes it under the table for the other woman, who by now has finished talking on phone and she exits with the bag.

Shortly after her the other woman leaves the café and all that while the owners of the stolen items seem not to have noticed the missing bag.

The footage gives a clear illustration of how Nairobi thieves are now distracting their victims with back and forth calls before robbing them of their valuables.
