Elite runners to get special bibs at Ndakaini Half Marathon

UAP Old Mutual Group, today officially launched the 13th UAP Old Mutual Ndakaini Half Marathon which will take place on Saturday 10th September 2016. It is themed ‘Run For Life In Good Company’.
According to the organisers, this year’s edition will see elite runners grouped in a special category. They will also start 50 metres ahead of other runners. “Only those who register for the elite category will stand the chance to win the prize money for the marathon,” a statement from the race organisers read in part.
 “We continuously seek to enhance the marathon standards each year, with a view to attaining international standards,” James Wambugu Group MD General Insurance stated.
In addition, elite runner identification has been revised by displaying  their names on their race bibs in place of numbers, while the RFID chips will still be in use, “The chips have proved to be tremendously accurate in time monitoring,” James Wambugu explained. The race will also start and end on the road as implemented last year to improve the terrain for the runners.
Ndakaini Half Marathon will be open for participation in the following categories:  21KM race for both men & women; 10Km and 5Km for adults, corporate teams and children. The registration Fee is Ksh 1000 for individuals and Ksh 50,000 for corporate teams. A discounted rate of Kshs.800 will apply for those who register online.
The Ndakaini Dam supplies over 70 per cent of Nairobi’s water and is an important installation for Nairobians. It is an all-inclusive marathon which brings together persons of all ages and walks of life.
