Neighbours describe how Embakasi man stabbed wife 20 times as she cried for help
Neighbours on Sunday narrated how they were helpless as a man butchered his wife in Transami area, Embakasi.
James Wambugu Wanyiri, 34, is reported to have stabbed his wife Grace Kangure more than 20 times after a domestic altercation. She succumbed to the wounds.
He locked all entrances, making it impossible for neighbours to heed to the woman’s calls for rescue in the wee hours of Sunday morning.
“We heard her crying and calling for help, screaming that her husband was killing her,” said Moses Rateng.
“I found a metal and broke the windows so that we could try and help the screaming woman,” said Francis Mutunga.
They described the suspect as a quiet man who kept his own company and never liked talking to anyone.
According to the neighbours, the wife worked outside Nairobi and only visited during weekends.
“She had been stabbed on her chest, neck, thighs and blood was flowing from the wounds,” added Mutunga.
Embakasi OCPD Matheus Mang’ira said they will move to court to ask for more time to investigate the incident and wait for postmortem results.
