New line to end power blackouts

Kenya Power is installing an additional line to boost electricity  supply in the Central Business District.

The Sh273 million line has been touted as the solution to recent power outages.

“Upon completion in October, our City centre customers will enjoy quality and reliable power supply,” KP Managing Director Ben Chumo said.

Mr Chumo added that installation of the new line will help in reducing electricity lost in the power lines due to overload.

Earlier, in the month Kenya Power blamed the frequent  blackouts  on contractors laying fibre optic cables in the city. The company had come under sharp public criticism for the incessant blackouts.
