Ngirita: Why I dumped Ruto for Uhuru

Graft suspect Ngirita has opened up on why she elected to quit William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA) for President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Jubilee political party.

Ngirita, who’s severally been charged in court with misappropriating public funds to the tune of millions of shillings, yesterday announced she was gunning for the Nakuru Women Representative seat in the August 2022 polls.

And in an interview with Nairobi News, she explained she initially joined UDA owing to ‘peer pressure’ but is now ready to link up with the Azimio La Umoja movement, a political coalition associated with President Kenyatta and opposition leader Raila Odinga.

“I was initially in UDA but decided to join Jubilee because I believe in what Raila and Uhuru are saying,” she explained.

The aspiring politician adds she wants to be a to join politics to fight for the rights of youth and women.

“I know the problems of the youth and women since I am one of them,” she added.

Ngarita’s name hit the headlines after she was arrested and charged in relation to misappropriation of funds at the National Youth Service (NYS).

The case is still active.
