Nigerian star Wizkid featured in Marvel’s Spider-Man soundtrack


Nigerian Afrobeat sensation Wizkid has added another feather to his cap by collaborating with Metro Boomin on the soundtrack for the upcoming Marvel animation, Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse.

The Grammy Award-winning artiste is featured alongside top American hip hop acts, including ASAP Rocky, Lil Uzi Vert, Offset and Swae Lee.

The news was revealed by Metro Boomin himself, who took to social media to share the list of musicians contributing to the soundtrack. The collaboration marks a major milestone for Wizkid, who recently headlined the Afronation Miami Festival.

The Afronation Festival made its stop in Miami as part of its global tour and Wizkid took center stage for a mesmerizing two-day performance.

The Nigerian star wowed the crowd with a curated playlist of his hit songs, leaving the audience captivated. During his set, he even teamed up with BNXN to perform their joint single Mood from his Grammy-nominated album Made In Lagos.

Wizkid shared the festival’s headline spot with fellow Nigerian artiste Burna Boy, while other acts such as Asake, CKay, Rema and BNXN also took the stage as supporting acts.

The festival also featured performances by South African artistes Major League DJz, Focalistic, Musa Keyz, Nissi, Uncle Waffles, as well as Ghanaian acts Black Sherif, Dadju, and Gyakie.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is the latest installment in Sony’s acclaimed animated film series, and its soundtrack is expected to match the high bar set by its predecessor. The music of the first movie, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, played a significant role in its success, with its hip-hop and pop album defining the soundtrack of protagonist Miles Morales’ life.

From energetic beats to contemplative rhythms, the songs on the Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse soundtrack seamlessly blend with the film’s visuals while also standing strong as individual tracks.
