Nkaissery defends airwing boss over claims of misuse of police plane
Interior Secretary Joseph Nkaiserry has defended a senior police airwing officer against accusations of misusing a police plane to transport his daughter-in-law and two children.
National Police Service Airwing deputy director Rogers Mbithi has admitted that the plane used to carry the Recce Company officers during the attack at Garissa University College had hours earlier carried his kin from Mombasa.
But Nkaissery on Tuesday said that it was in order for Mr Mbithi’s family to be given “a lift” in a police plane.
“The law is clear that he can authorize a pilot to carry his relative and any other civilian,” said Nkaissery.
