NMG online platforms boast majority audience during Ruto’s inauguration

Kenyans preferred to follow proceedings during President William Ruto’s inauguration on Nation Media Group’s (NMG) online platforms, a research by the Media Council of Kenya (MCK) shows.

President Ruto was sworn in as Kenya’s fifth Head of State in a glittering military ceremony at the 60,000 seater Kasarani stadium attended by a full capacity including 20 African Heads of State.

NTV Kenya’s YouTube platform was the second most watched platform during the event, with Nation.Africa, another of NMG’s platforms coming in third.

KBC Channel 1 emerged fourth position while KTN News was fifth out of the 13 sampled stations.

The ratings place NMG as a market leader on print, television and digital media.

The giant media house boasts several digital platforms including Nation.Africa and Nairobi News websites.

The MCK statistics also show three peak times when Kenyans watched the different media houses.

For instance, during President Ruto’s speech at 3:30pm, Nation.Africa recorded 21,016 numbers having an average of 24,596 in the whole event.

Additionally, NTV Kenya’s YouTube recorded 66,093 at 12:45pm during President Ruto’s swearing in, 90,792 during the handing over with 48,453 watching Dr Ruto’s speech and an average of 67,908 people watched NTV during the inauguration.
