No more agony of fully booked SGR trains for weekend travellers

Kenya Railways has caved in to calls for additional coaches on weekend trains plying the Mombasa-Nairobi route.

The company will now have five more economy coaches on its weekend trains to meet the high demand.

Kenya Railways managing director Atanas Maina said the coaches will be increased to 11 from 16 for economy class passengers.

The two first class coaches will however remain the same.

“We were studying travel trends and have noted demand is higher from Fridays,” said Mr Maina in an interview with the Business Daily.

Kenyans online celebrated the addition of coaches, highlighting how hard it has been to secure a weekend train ticket.
