It’s not easy, say relatives of family wiped out by reckless Subaru driver – PHOTOS
Relatives of a nuclear family that was wiped out in a span of two months are planning their burial set for Tuesday, September 11.
Peter Kimani Gikonyo, wife Ziporrah Muthoni Gikonyo and their son David Gikonyo Kimani died in a freak accident on August 30 this year at Kinungi.
The three were travelling from Nairobi to Nakuru when their car was hit from the side by the driver of a Subaru Legacy which was speeding and overtaking dangerously at the black spot.
AIRBAGS FAILED
The Subaru swerved and hit the vehicle the family was travelling in forcing it off the road. Their van’s airbags did not deploy and Peter and Ziporrah died on the spot. Their son David died in hospital.
Incidentally, the driver of the Subaru and his female passenger escaped with their lives and are recuperating in hospital.
On the other hand, the couple’s other child Grace Wambui Kimani had died on July 10 after a short illness. She had just graduated from United States International University.
Peter’s brother Evans told Citizen TV that Grace and her father were inseparable and that her death had made him go into depression.
At Ruiru where the family lived, burial arrangements went on, on Thursday as relatives put final touches.
FRESH GRAVE
Citizen TV showed Grace’s fresh grave and three other spots where the rest of her family will be laid to rest.
“It is not easy but we are getting our energy from the lord. An accident like this one didn’t come to us without God’s notice; it didn’t come through the back. He knew and he allowed it to happen,” said a family member.
