Notorious drug trafficker arrested in Mombasa with Sh1.7 million in cash
A suspected drug trafficker was arrested by detectives in Magogoni area, Kisauni, Mombasa County on Saturday morning.
During the dawn raid, police officers also seized Sh1.7 million in cash, a kilogram of heroin, bhang, assorted packaging materials and a weighing scale.
The suspect was arrested along with his wife at a house where the police said he has been operating from.

According to the police, the suspect had Sh1.3 million in Kenyan currency and $3,610.
He was also found in possession of four mobile phones at the time of his arrest.
Police described the suspect as a notorious drug trafficker who, alongside the late Swaleh Yusuf Ahmed alias Kendereni, were the main distributors of hard drugs within the coast region.
The suspect is said to have his operation base in drug dens at Magodoroni and Arusini in Kisauni Constituency and has also lured schoolgirls into his supply chain.

The two wives of the suspect, who police said are also part of the criminal ring, have previously been arrested in possession of hard drugs and have ongoing court cases.
The police described the suspect’s family as dangerous and deeply rooted in the drug business.
Drug trafficking and consumption has been on the rise in the coast region.

President William Ruto has in the past challenged leaders in the region to take the lead in the fight against drug and substance abuse.
Similarly, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has been actively spearheading the fight against illicit brew as well as drug and substance abuse in the country.
He has repeatedly asked leaders to support the ongoing efforts to eradicate the consumption of illicit brews and drugs in the country.
