Nyamweya returns after voting for Blatter in Fifa elections

Football Kenya Federation Chairman Sam Nyamweya has returned from Zurich where he voted for Fifa President Sepp Blatter in elections clouded by claims of corruption.

Mr Nyamweya  confirmed that he had voted for Sepp Blatter owing to the Swiss past “development record in Africa”.

He made the remarks upon return to the country from Fifa’s annual general assembly in Zurich on Sunday morning.

The FKF chairman also brushed aside growing criticism locally of his management style from a section of local leaders.

“We are past that era of blindly accusing each other of corruption through the media with intent to malign names. Instead, we need to build football,” he said.

A group of leaders affiliated to the 20 football branches countrywide held a meeting in Nairobi on Friday and issued a statement in which they criticised the way FKF affairs are managed.
