Nyashinski fails to produce Tecno contract documents in court
Vocalist and rapper Nyamari ‘Nyashinski’ Ongegu has failed to furnish the court with contract documents detailing a deal he signed with Tecno Kenya Limited, in a Copyright case against him firing Nigerian producer Sam Eli Are.
In February, Magistrate Seline Muchungi ordered Nyashinski’s legal representative to furnish the court with the contract document ahead of April 12, 2024, mentioning and also to serve the same to Sam Eli’s legal team.
This was after Sam Eli’s legal team petitioned the court to have the contract documents tabled in court.

Humphrey & Co Advocate, representing Nyashinski, had argued that they could not produce the brand ambassadorship agreement between their client and Tecno Kenya because it is subject to a non-disclosure agreement and a confidential agreement that cannot be produced in court.
By last Friday when the matter came for mentioning again, Nyashinski legal hadn’t served the contract document yet.
“You honour, it is indeed correct we have not been able to furnish the said document… the plaintiff needs to make a case as to why they need us to disclose a document that is covered by a non-disclosure,” said a lawyer representing the artiste.

Giving fresh directions, the magistrate directed Sam Eli’s legal team to formally file for the order application in writing.
The magistrate set the mention of the hearing of the application for May 6, 2024.
Sam Eli moved to court last year suing Nyashinski over copyright infringement by entering into a commercial deal with Tecno in which he claims the singer financially benefited from the hit song Wach Wach which he produced for him.
Sam Eli claims he didn’t receive his share of the Tecno deal yet he owns 50 per cent publishing rights of the song while Nyashinski owns the other half.
