Nyota Ndogo dubs Eric Omondi a ‘con’

Songstress Nyota Ndogo is furious with popular comedian Eric Omondi whom she’s accusing of being a conman.

According to Nyota, Omondi had talked to her about a Christmas show at Mombasa’s Mama Ngina Drive but he then went quiet. She says he did not pick her calls for more than two weeks before the concert which was slated for Christmas Day.

“If Eric Omondi didn’t have the money to pay me and other artistes, he should have said so, and we could have had other performances elsewhere.

I have been forced to cancel so many other performances yet he did not confirm the Christmas day show,” a furious Nyota told Sunday Nation’s Showbuzz magazine.

She was also furious that Eric kept on advertising the show on radio and social media until the last minute.

“Eric is an artiste and he should respect other artistes. I’m not begging for a show, but it is bad when I respect a fellow artiste and not take any other performances, just to be disappointed in the end,” she said.

Contacted by Showbuzz Eric termed the incident an unfortunate, saying the approved budget was slashed at the last minute.

“According to me, Nyota, plus very many other artistes were supposed to perform, but since the main sponsor, the Mombasa County Governor Hassan Joho was not in the country, the original budget was not approved. It was a last minute thing, and this happens to many artistes,” Omondi said.
