NYS scandal: Ndubai, 11 others arrested in morning raid across Nairobi

National Youth Service (NYS) boss Richard Ndubai was arrested at his Nairobi home on Monday morning in a police raid expected to net 48 other suspects.

The suspects are being held at Muthaiga, Gigiri and Central police stations awaiting processing for court.

Nairobi County Criminal Investigating Officer Ireri Kamwende has confirmed the arrests.

All the suspects, including those arrested outside Nairobi, are expected to be arraigned in court within 24 hours.

The arrests come after the Director of Public Prosecution Noordin Haji ordered for the immediate prosecution of all suspects named in the Sh9 billion scandal.

Mr Haji’s directive comes a day after he received files on 10 companies and more than 40 individuals named in the ongoing NYS scandal from the Director of Criminal Investigations George Kinoti.

“The DPP has independently reviewed all the inquiries files related to the ongoing investigations at NYS and has directed prosecution commences immediately against all the named suspects,” the office of the public prosecutor tweeted on Monday morning.
