Officers accused of robbery with violence to spend more time in police cell

Four police officers who are being investigated for robbery with violence have been detained for three more days.

Magistrate Muthoni Nzibe on Wednesday allowed the police to hold Duncan Wasike, Kevin Adanje, Oliver Tambo and Joseph Dida for that period.

The four accused officers are attached to Kamukunji and Railways Police Stations.

According to Mr William Kibue, the officers were arrested on Monday evening.

Mr Kibue said that they will use the period issued by the court to arrest more officers who have been working with the four.

ROBBED

He also said that they needed time because they intend to hold an identification parade.

The police service has also asked residents of Nairobi to file complaints with them in case they have been harassed by the police in the past.

The arrest of the officers came just days after a city based businessman made a report at the Central Police Station that officers attached to the station had robbed him of Sh4,000.

According to Mr Kibue, the said officers harassed the businessman and asked for money or else they place several charges against him.
