Officially free! Ali Kiba’s Kenyan wife celebrates divorcing him
Tanzanian superstar singer Ali Kiba and his Kenyan wife, Amina Khalef, are divorced.
In an October 11, 2022, Instagram update, Amina who goes by @aileenalora celebrated being ‘officially free’, a tagline made popular by Kenyan billionaire heiress Anerlisa Muigai when she posted the same in celebrating her divorce from another Tanzanian superstar singer, Ben Pol.
In Amina’s case, she went ahead to delete any trace of Ali Kiba from her social media accounts and also posted a photo of a bird flying away from a cage with its door open.
Ali and Amina married in 2018 but Amina filed for divorce at the Mombasa Kadhi’s Court in February 2022.

News of their impending divorce hit the headlines when documents emerged revealing Ali Kiba had been given 15 days to respond to the suit, failure to which the case would proceed in his absence.
In the documents, Amina said she wasn’t being provided with a safe home environment in Dar-es-Salaam, endured verbal abuse from her in-laws which allegedly began six months into their marriage and accused her husband of infidelity.
She also lamented about the singer’s family and friends who came to live with them in their matrimonial home following their April 2018 flashy wedding.
She left her home six months after tying the knot and returned home to Kenya while pregnant with their first child.
“The respondent (Kiba) made a mockery of their marriage by disrespectfully engaging in public displays of infidelity with various women in total disregard of the petitioner’s feelings,” read the court documents.

Amina said attempts to resolve and restore their marriage proved futile as Ali Kiba remained non-committal to their marriage; hence the marriage broke down with no hope of being salvaged.
The two had been trying to get their marriage back on track for years, getting back together and separating, displaying love for each other on social media; but it did not work out in the end as Amina claimed she had been abandoned to her own devices.
The couple is blessed with two children and Amina asked for Sh 200,000 in monthly upkeep for their children.
