Ogopa Deejays set for a re-union concert of music icons
Ogopa Deejays was once the preferred music stable for upcoming artistes and gained recognition as the grooming ground for most successful artistes in the industry today.
Their first generation proteges include Nameless, Big Pin, Wahu, Amani, Kleptomaniacs, Colonel Mustapha and Kenzo.
The music stable has announced a re-union music concert that will feature performances by some of these most notable music icons.
The concert, dubbed The Plot 2.0, will be held at the Ngong Water Front on Saturday August 13, 2016 and is organized by Property Reality Company (PRC). It will feature performances by international artists.
PRC are bringing American 90’s music sensations Mya, Ginuwine and 112, to perform on one stage for the first time in Kenya.
Mr Brian Gacari, CEO of PRC said, “The Ogopa re-union will feature performances by some Kenyan music icons. It will set the stage for the performance by the international artists. We are giving Kenyans an experience to be remembered.”
Mr Gacari said the re-union will also be used to pay tribute to one of Kenya’s music icon, E-Sir.
The re-union comes after Ogopa Deejays refused to renew all contracts for its artistes in January 2014.
Among the artistes affected included Mustapha, Kenzo, Avril, Marya and Trapee. It is still not clear why Ogopa Deejays proprietors, brothers Lucas and Francis Bikedo, chose to do so.
However, Ogopa’s spokesman, Emmanuel Banda said at the there was a lot of confusion about the whole matter.
“I am yet to consult with the bosses but I can assure you, we shall have a full report and explanation by the weekend,” he said.
